I really shouldn't be surprised anymore, but the depth in this poem and the previous one does seem to stand out in sharp relief against the goofy nature of your, umm, real life persona. Maybe I'm not surprised, just impressed. Most definitely impressed.
i love it :) your writing is really good, keep posting ;) good luck on your cycling adventure and have fun with it! it sounds like you set yourself up for a LOT of training.
It's just that my aunt had come over to visit. She's the director of the Forestry Industries Directorate in Ottawa. I told her about you and she said she would be interested in you as a new forestry graduate. She's gone back now, but I'll email you her contact details if you're interested. Let me know.
Things that are weird about Finland (In one Canadian's opinion, anyway)
There are slot machines everywhere: cruise ships, gas stations, grocery stores, etc. And gambling is considered a positive thing as all the money goes to the government kind of like another form of taxation.
People are good parallel parkers (especially my roommate)...I appreciate this as a Vancouverite
There are no stop signs, at four way stops everyone just yields to the right
Nobody locks their bike to anything, they just lock the back wheel in place...you could just carry them away...it would be so easy...I need a bike
People won’t jaywalk, but they’ll ride on the back of someone’s bike with no helmet
Yogurt comes in a carton.
Teachers are respected as highly as doctors or lawyers and need almost as much education.
People take notes on grid paper, not lined.
Nobody speaks English, but if you speak to them in English they will understand and respond...in English
Stopping for a pedestrian waiting at a crosswalk is only a suggestion, but heaven forbid if you jaywalk!
Everyone wants to know if you like Finland and what you did wrong to end up here :-)
Bicycles are not allowed on the street and have to run over pedestrians instead.
You have to take a number to do anything, but I guess it beats waiting in line!
:). That is really, really good.
