A Loving Memory

I made a new friend last night
In a rather unorthodox way
He snuck up behind me on the couch
And happily made my day

We spent the night dancing
Bad music on the radio
My moves may have scared him
But he barely let it show

I just love everything he does
The way he blinks his eyes closed
To his honey-eating face
And ticklish little toes

But there comes a time
For each loving parent
When baby has to leave
Go pay his own rent

That day came too quickly
On my hand he lay curled
Left the warmth of my hand
Victim to the cold dark world

It was nice while it lasted
Not sure if I was ready
Please come back and visit
I miss you, Freddy <3

  1. Nice.
(From the picture, you had a much better time than the lizard. Poor critter looks bored as heck.)

Made your day at night, :). Reminds me of this:

It was midnight on the ocean
Not a street car was in sight.
    The sun was shining brightly;
And it rained all day that night.

'Twas a summer's night in winter
And the rain was snowing fast.
A barefoot boy with shoes on
    Stood sitting on the grass.

    The rain was pouring down
    The moon was shining bright
And everything that you could see
    Was hidden out of sight.

It was evening and the rising sun,
    Was setting in the West,
The little fishes in the trees,
    Were huddled in their nest.

    While the organ peeled potatoes,
Lard was rendered by the choir,
While the sexton rang the dish rag
Someone set the church on fire.

    Holy Smoke the preacher shouted,
And in the rush he lost his hair,
    Now,his head resembles heaven
For there is no parting there.

  3. Yea, that's not a picture of Freddy. Freddy was much prettier and a very spunky little fellow. And that poem is fantastic by the way! Who wrote it?

  4. There's this amazing dude called Anonymous. He's written all kinds of stuff. From the name, presumably ancient Greek. (Wonder how he wrote in English then ....)
